How often should I have this done?

We recommend an annual application to maintain the maximum protection. Vehicles see a LOT of undercarriage abuse from rain, sand, salt, rocks, and anything else you might run over at high speeds. All these things over time can reduce the protection we gave you.

What are the NHOU products you use?

We have two main types of undercoat, Classic NH Oil Undercoating, and the new NHOU V3 (with black and clear versions of both)The Original NHOU is formulated with food-safe mineral oil, natural plant- and animal-derived corrosion inhibitors, and no solvents or detergents. The oil works by displacing moisture and limiting oxygen at the metal surface, helping prevent oxidation while creating a protective barrier against corrosion. Its ability to migrate and creep allows it to reach hard-to-access areas such as rocker panels, door panels, and inside cavities, where moisture and rust commonly develop. How clean does my vehicle need to be before you arrive?

The cleaner the vehicle is, obviously the better. Although, this being an oil not a paint, it can be applied over LIGHT dirt layers. Everyone get a complimentary 5+/- minutes of cleaning before hand, which covers 95% of vehicles we see. Some come in with heavy dirt buildup, or heavy flaking rust coming off. Those cases can occur a separate cleaning charge.

Will it void my warranty?

NO! Because NH Oil Undercoating® is an entirely different  approach, it eliminates annoying electrical malfunctions and makes the vehicle work better and last longer. While the manufacturers probably won’t admit it, they just have to love NH Oil Undercoating® because it  will reduce the number of corrosion related warranty claims they are  obligated to pay. It also saves customers the time and aggravation  associated with claims against warranties. NH Oil Undercoating is used  and sold by most major manufacturers dealerships.

Question 5

How do you spray inside the parts of my vehicle I can't even see?

Accepted Answer

Most vehicles have holes in the frame and body that we can put our spray wands inside. The sprayers we use have a very tiny nozzle and create a fog of oil that can travel from the rear to the front of a frame inside. This ensures that the inside is just as protected as the outside.

Don't be fooled by cheaper undercoaters that only do the outside/the parts you can see. That's only half the battle. You get what you pay for in this business.

Question 6

Will it drip on my driveway?

NHOU oils are designed not to drip, but in rare cases where the product is sprayed on too thick, some dripping may occur. If so, most household cleaners/soaps will remove the oil such as dish soap, simple green, purple power, etc.

Question 7

What if it gets on my paint?

Accepted Answer

This being a mineral oil, it will not hard paint. In fact, it's nearly impossible not to get a light mist on the entire vehicle while performing the service. We recommend every customer to get a cheap car wash immediately after being serviced.

Question 8

Smoke and Odor notice

Accepted Answer

You may notice smoke and odor from the underside of the vehicle the  first time the vehicle is driven. This is due to a small amount of  over spray vaporizing on the exhaust system. It is harmless and should  cease quickly.

Question 9

Brakes Notice

Accepted Answer

You may notice a grinding noise when braking. This is due to a small  amount of over-spray collecting on the brake lining. This is not a  safety hazard and should cease after a few stops.

Question 10

Will NHOU hurt electrical components?

Accepted Answer

No. NHOU is non-conductive and will not harm electrical  connections. Make sure that all connections are made before applying NHOU.

Question 11

My vehicle is older, is it worth undercoating still?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Just because it's older or is already rusty doesn't mean you shouldn't protect it. This isn't a paint, it can be applied directly over rust to stop/slow it down.

An application will GREATLY slow down the current rust, make removing bolts and parts easier from loosening them, and if you choose the Back-N-Black option it will make the unappealing rust color be an even black.

Question 12

Whats the difference from the Clear and Black options?

Exact same product other than a carbon graphite biodegradable black tint to improve the surface appearance.

Question 13

Will there be overspray to surronding items when you protect my vehicle?

Accepted Answer

In the short, yes. If we're only undercoating one vehicle at your location, it will be hard to notice we were there. If we're doing multiple vehicles in one spot, there will be some over spray on the ground and possible some small misting in surrounding structures, vehicles, etc. We recommend moving anything near where we will be away for that day, we also have a canvas we can put down below us if you're concerned about the ground having a light coating on it, this will capture most of the misting.

Should I wash the underside of my vehicle in the winter after this?

Accepted Answer

NO!

Car washes recycle that water so you're spraying salty water anyway
Over MANY washes you'll remove the undercoating
The oil is doing it's job, even if it's covered in salt, oxygen is not getting to your vehicles protected parts. Just leave it be.

If you want to get a regular wash with no undercarriage wash, go for it!

Question 15

Do you drop the spare tire or pull taillights?

We tell customers this is a leaning opportunity, everyone should know how to lower their spare tire down AND check the tire pressure YEARLY. We kindly ask each customer to lower the spare tire before we get there. It's best to figure out how to lower your spare tire on your own time, rather than on the side of the highway in a blizzard.

As for taillights, if we remove the delicate lights and break tabs/clips, now we're liable to replace it. There is almost no reason to do this anyway, we can spray from the underside of truck beds and get behind them.

However, we don't charge extra if the customer wants to remove things for more access before we're there. We have customers that when we arrive have removed headlights, taillights, spare tire, trim panels, etc. We will gladly spray in those locations for you.
